Balance / falls assessment:
Our physiotherapist can conduct a balance and falls risk assessment. In particular the assessment will focus on physical capabilities of the individual related to falls risk. This includes assessment of balance, strength and mobility. It is recommended that participants planning to join the falls prevention exercise classes have this assessment prior to commencing classes to identify impairments in strength and balance so exercise prescription can be individualised to the participants needs.
Health fund and DVA rebates available.
Mobility assessment:
A physiotherapist can assess your mobility. The purpose of this assessment is to identify any mobility limitations and provide solutions to help improve your mobility and independence. This assessment includes walking/gait measures, transferring (e.g. standing from a seat), negotiating steps and curbs and balance. The physiotherapist can make recommendations and supply and fit appropriate equipment and suggest exercise strategies (and refer you for supervised exercise) to maintain and improve your mobility.
Health fund and DVA rebates available.
Sports injury taping:
Returning to sport from injury? Want to decrease the risk of ankle sprain?
We provide a pre-sport strapping service.
Have a physio professionally tape your joints and limbs before going off to your sports.
(Please note this service does not provide diagnosis or rehabilitation/ treatment by the physiotherapist. It is purely a service that provides sports injury taping).
Pre group exercise class assessments:
Balance / falls assessments:

Lumbo-pelvic motor control assessment:
This pre-exercise assessment done by a physiotherapist is targeted to individuals who want to participate in Pilates classes. A common difficulty participants have when starting Pilates is being able to turn on (activate) the correct muscles and sustain this contraction without substituting or activating other inappropriate muscle groups. The lumbo-pelvic motor control assessment involves assessment of muscle activation strategies and movement patterns. In particular, the physiotherapist assesses your ability to turn on key deep stabilising muscles (for example, transversus abdominus) without substituting other superficial muscle groups. Assessment of flexibility of muscle groups around the pelvis, spine and lower limbs is also included. The physiotherapist will teach you how to activate the deep stabilising muscle groups appropriately and give feedback (with your consent) to the Pilates instructor so that individualised instruction during Pilates exercises will be tailored based on the assessment findings.
Health fund and DVA rebates available.
Education and Training Consultation:
Manual Handling & Back education:
Our physiotherapist can facilitate an interactive workshop session for workers on safe and effective manual handling and back care. These workshops aim to provide the participant with skills and knowledge in the risk management approach to manual handling and the ability to demonstrate safe and effective manual handling.
